Girl Scouts Facilities

KTU+A lead a team of consultants in the preparation of a master plan for all of the Girl Scout facilities in San Diego County, including 200-acre Palomar Mountain, and 600-acre Camp Winacka and 50-acre Whispering Oaks near Julian. The three mountain facilities, along with the two urban facilities at Balboa Park and Kit Carson Park, support activities for the nearly 2,300 individual Girl Scout troops in the Council.

An extensive troop, member and stakeholder involvement program was completed to ensure that needed activities and facilities were provided.

The master plan includes full documentation of the program development, site opportunities and constraints, facility requirements, alternative concepts and final recommended land use and facility expansion site plans.

KTU+A also coordinated consultant services for a variety of capital improvement projects at the Balboa Park complex, including a new multi-purpose building and plaza, a 175 seat amphitheater, and a tree house climbing structure.
