Experience: Combining his interest in outdoor activities with his professional planning and design background, John offers both technical and functional expertise in bicycle and trail planning and design. John has served two terms as president of the San Diego Mountain Biking Association (SDMBA), an affiliate of the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA). He has been a SDMBA director since 2001 and was recently named to the IMBA California Leadership Council, a newly formed statewide advocacy advisory group.
Through his extensive volunteer work in trail design, renovation and maintenance projects throughout Southern California, John brings hands-on knowledge of the critical components of successful trail systems. Much of his recent volunteer work has been directed at developing antidotes to the decades-long reduction in outdoor activity and the resulting childhood obesity epidemic; especially attracting kids and their parents back to the outdoors with age-appropriate activities and facilities that appeal to their sense of fun and adventure.
