Fiesta Island Park Precise Plan
The Fiesta Island Park Precise Plan updates the 1994 master plan for Mission Bay Park. Fiesta Island consists of 487 acres and is the largest land area of Mission Bay Park. The Park Precise Plan documents the existing biology, traffic, hydrology, land use and resources found on site. The project utilized twelve alternative plans to help gauge public opinion and balance the often competing desires of special interest groups and the general public. Cost estimates, funding sources, design possibilities, conceptual grading, conceptual drainage, habitat restoration, water quality improvements, traffic improvements and new facility and recreational use areas are the focus of the study. A comprehensive environmental review and agency coordination were required. The plan represents a balance between existing uses, future park and aquatic uses, and environmental resources.
