Lemon Grove, CA

CONNECT Main Street is a planning, design and engineering project that is exploring opportunities to transform a two-mile long segment of Main Street, in the City of Lemon Grove, into a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable place for people to socialize, walk, bike, and run along Chollas Creek and the San Diego Trolley corridor. The project features cycle tracks, bike boulevards, woonerven and off-street paths, and interpretive and placemaking elements.

Building off the theme of phase I, “Where Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Meet”, phase II extends the timeline by exploring the design elements of the Early Pioneer Period, the Spanish/Mexican Period, the Kumeyaay Period, Natural Evolutionary Time, Weathering Forces Over Time, and Geologic Time. These themes are supported by art work, site furnishings and time portals that mark the beginning and end of each period.

CONNECT Main Street presents an opportunity for enhancing connections between neighborhoods and the heart of the City; including the City’s two transit stations and many local businesses. This project also offers the chance to make a great place for the people of Lemon Grove by including landscaping, public art, and other amenities for all residents to enjoy.

The project was funded by SANDAG through a Smart Growth Incentive Program grant awarded to the City of Lemon Grove.
